shaoli’s birthday party

wow. went to shaoli’s (the first guy i befriended at Jurong JC!) birthday party straight after school yesterday…well, actually we went to watch a movie at jurong point first, with kar wang, hui yan and shaoli the birthday boy of course. we watched “i am legend”.. the movie was quite alright, although hui yan was like falling asleep halfway through…

after that, we went to shaoli’s house (after meeting up with 2 of his westwood friends at jp), which was huge and nicely done up (decor etc). it was just shaoli and me, with his westwood sec friends which i all don’t know…so i was feeling kinda awkward…- but – nevertheless, i managed to acquaint with a couple of them…

btw, did i mention there were 2 pairs of twins at his party…? first pair – the “yongs” who are identical..the second pair – rebecca and rachel..

anyways, i did meet non-twins such as hannah (who claimed i was kinda quiet – duh! i didn’t know anyone there what..), melissa who is also from jj =), joey, faisal and many others…

shaoli ordered a truckload of food which we can’t finish and he probably got scolded by his parents…(sorry shaoli, my stomach had already tried its best…). after waiting for more of shaoli’s friends to arrive, we finally managed to cut the cake at around 10pm, which was really really late.

after which, we took a stroll along sembawang park towards the beach…we hung out there while taking photos. by the time we got back to the bus stop, it was already 11 plus pm. sadly, i couldn’t stay over at shaoli’s place…so i followed a group of non-stayers to the bus station, heading home. we took a train to boon lay bus interchange, where i shockingly discovered i’d missed the last bus! so i had to take a cab home (which made me $20 poorer…). it’s not much of a big deal though…

all in all, shaoli’s party was quite an enjoyable experience. *hope he invites me next year*.

PS: these are some photos from shaoli’s birthday party. and i will probably post some photos of graduation night soon.

just another boring day

tutorials, tutorials and more tutorials….damn boring.

anyways, i managed to pon all the lectures (with thanks to janson)..otherwise i would have died of boredom instantly..lol.

i will make a mental note to bring cards on monday to escape from the boredom..anyways, o level results out soon…heard it’s next friday..*anxious*. hope i do well for my Os, if not i’ll be screwed inside out..

as promised, here are some of the acs (i) class of 2007 graduation night photos:

crapping on saturday

supposed to go for an OG outing today, but decided not to cos i’m just plain lazy (hope none of my OG mates read this..haha)…

anyways, i’m quite tired of school (homework and group work etc..)..i heard ACJC is starting to teach only next week. dunno why JJ (Jurong Junior College) is so “on” and started lessons immediately after orientation.

btw, i thought i ought to comment that the JJ principal is quite unique. first and foremost, he wears sandals and socks in school and may sometimes be seen doing custodian’s work suck as cleaning the tables in the canteen…odd.

secondly, during the so-called welcome speech on the first day of school, he encouraged all of us at JJ to strive for 6 ‘C’s. no, i’m not kidding. apparently, it is the basic requirement for entry into university. but seriously..what the hell man. which principal in singapore will ever encourage students to aim for straight Cs in exams..? this is definitely something new..

nevermind that..anyways. i don’t remember mentioning anything about orientation at JJ. well, the orientation is probably the most unique among the JCs in singapore. it can be more of less considered as a JJ trademark. It is actually a 3-day 2-night residential camp at JJ campus, where we cheered and play games throughout the entire duration, and i must admit that some of the games, namely kinetic warfare (a complicated variety of games which requires one to get down, dirty and wet), are fun (althought i would prefer kinetic warfare to be some ffa waterbomb throwing game)..however, the cheering and such makes me feel absolutely awkward..(esp the 讨厌 clap, which i thought was totally dumb and highly irritating).

mass dance is something which i simply have to mention. well, for starters, it is actually a mass dance (no way!), where everyone dances with a partner of the opposite gender. well, they might as well call it the “mess dance” cos it’s either almost everyone there can’t dance for nuts, or it is simply too packed for anyone to carry out the dance steps optimally. they did “teach” us the dance steps to songs such as Jamelia’s superstar and Geek Get The Girls by showing us brief demonstrations, but i seriously doubt if it improved my dance skills at all. just to make myself feel more embarrassed, i was practically tripping over myself and moving stiffly like a robot..lol. okay..my dance skills stinks..

looking back from now, i find that the camp wasn’t that bad after all. at least not as bad as i thought it would have been on day one. lol.

guess it’s time to stop crapping now…more math homework awaits me *horrors*. just jokin..but seriously, my hands are getting numb from typing, especially where this is such as long post. (i doubt if anyone is going to read till the end at all)..so if u’ve read to this point, thank you for being such a patient reader.

release of o level results

heard it’s confirmed to be on 25th Jan 2008, which is next friday and also the day after my birthday…

update: okay, my sources are unreliable. it’s CONFIRMED to be on the 24th of January, which is ON my birthday. and that sucks..!

shopping…

dropped by that cd shop at tiong bahru plaza last night to buy a few cds. i haven’t bought any cds for a long time already, and i’m quite tired of my current collection of 3400 songs on my ipod..*lol*.

anyways, i bought u218 singles by u2 (one of my favourite bands), the click five’s modern minds and pastimes, colbie caillat’s coco and jay chou’s 8th album on the run (as a birthday gift for a friend). all in all, it made me $68 poorer. however, i think it is worth the money buying music and supporting the artists. after all, i love music. =)

sian..

school is super boring (i know i’ve said it many times already, but hey – i’ve to get my point across you know..).

got a surprise math test on partial fractions today and naturally, i screwed the whole thing 10 times over. i will probably get a 3/16 if the teacher’s really lenient. if she’s not, then that’s too bad and i don’t really give a damn. anyway, wth man..acjc is just starting lessons this week – why is JJ so kan jiong and kiasu.

btw, dunno why i keep swearing today — thought i’d already kicked this really bad habit of mine after leaving acs (which full credit goes to saha, the black swearing chindian dude for his lovely influence). pardon me if you don’t understand what i mean at all. after all, you’re now logged on to craptivating. totally., and this is something which you must get used to, whether you like it or not…haha *evil laugh*..

really sian today. hence the title of this post. – *wow..captivating*.

yours colloquially,
derek (who is feeling really sian at the moment…)

2 more days to results…

school, as usual, was boring. there were quite a number of teachers who PMS’d today, which is a pain in the a**…btw, i saw some girl in school today who looked really like chieko (the deaf jap girl from babel). it was a total striking resemblance — almost, if not entirely, identical to her..lol.

anyways, o level results coming out very very soon, and i’m getting quite restless. shaoli gave me a really nice birthday present today – a sony ericsson phone. lol..now i’ll have to get him something better for his next birthday…an ipod maybe? haha..

general paper is crap hard man – all the diamond theories, analytical responses and such just makes me want to go to sleep…

nothing much to blog about today. so guess that’s it…

1 more day to O level results!

one more day to the release of results…to be precise it’s a couple more hours! and also, tomorrow happens to be my birthday, which totally stinks if my O level results sucks..

nevertheless, here i am blogging away in the comfort of my home, while my classmates and og mates are still in school doing spring cleaning. haha – *evil grin*. seriously…i don’t see why we are forced to clean up after the jjcians. it’s not as if all of us will be staying in jj right? they’re clearly making use of us, forcing us to do what was originally supposed to be their dirty jobs.

anyways, best of luck to all of you out there who’ll be receiving your results tomorrow…!

got owned by my results today…

the judgment day arrived, and…
my results totally sucks man.

i scored 14 points (raw score). obviously expected something better than that…

my result slip:
results

this totally ruined my birthday man!
as you can see, i failed my higher chinese and there goes my 2 bonus points! my english is totally screwed up. expected loads better than that.

however, on the brighter note (which is still quite dark actually), i did improve quite significantly for certain subjects. for example, geography (which was a pleasant surprise as i thought i’d screwed up the paper..), Math and A Math (this is actually the highest i’ve gotten, ever!), chemistry (which i had nearly failed during prelims)… but the biggest surprise was biology – i had practically given up on bio since sec 3 and the only time i actually cared to study for bio was 1 hour before the O level exam! and guess what..? i got an A2! on the other hand, luke kochak – who has been seriously studying bio for 2 years, got the same grade as me…lol. wth man! this is certainly f.cked up. (pardon my language)

but all in all, i’m still rather dissatisfied and disappointed with my score of 12 (after cca points). =(
i’m still pondering over which jc (or maybe poly) to choose…very very sian.
no birthday party for me — simply not in the mood to have one anyway…

btw, saha, eugene and I went to gwc in the morning (before release of results) to watch cloverfield (where 3 of us were the only ones in the movie hall..lol). the movie is one of a kind, BUT i’m not saying that it is fantastic whatsoever..
in fact, i find that it is totally messy and the storyline is…well actually it doesn’t even have a proper storyline..! it mainly revolves around a monster attack in New York as told from the point of view of a small group of people and is entirely based on footage from their video camera, which makes this movie certainly not suitable for those with motion-sickness.

the plot is totally unconvincing. missing were the details of where the monster came from and what happened to the monster in the end, which brings us to the point — the ending is totally messed up. as a matter of fact, the whole movie is kinda like a fictional documentary filmed by a professional amateur…lol. u’ll get what i mean after watching the movie for yourself (which i certainly do not recommend as it’ll be a waste of money).

(excuse me for a while…gotta go cut my birthday cake…)

(okay..i’m back!)

where was i…alright – cloverfield is about a monster invasion on Manhattan whereby the first half of the movie is totally unrelated to the “storyline”. there were many stuff in the film that’s totally unrealistic. examples are – why the main characters in the film are able to survive and escape almost uninjured after the violent helicopter crash whereas there was no mention of the pilots (as if they were killed in the crash) & how the camera “documenting” the invasion was able to last for hours straight as if the battery had unlimited capacity…

anyway, this is just my personal opinion of the movie. if you’re into sci-fi documentary kind of movies, this may just be the perfect movie for you.

this has been a sucky day (especially when it’s my birthday) for me. hope this kind of day will never ever happen again.

which jc..?

i’ve been considering for quite some time already…

if i choose ACJC as my first choice, my L1R5 would be 10 (after the affiliation bonus). but this will still be insufficient for me to enter into AC as the JAE cut-off for previous year was 7 for the Science stream…

okay..let’s say i put AC as my first choice and i fail to enter, Catholic JC would be my next best option…but still, my score of 12 will most likely be too high to enter CJC (which has a cut-off of 10 for Science). most likely, my third choice will be – JJC, but i’m not even sure if i can enter if i put it as my third choice…

in a total dilemma right now..i think for now, i’ll just stick with acjc as first choice, cjc as second choice and jjc as third choice…

Edited: Saturday, 26 January 200812:40 pm

no title. just name this anything you like.

accidentally updated my modded psp’s firmware and now it’s to sony’s original 3.80..sian..can’t play any games on it now. so i had to go down to the modding store at queensway shopping centre to re-mod it, which was a total waste of money..

anyways, janson got me a belated birthday present today….*opening the present now…* AND……………………………………………………………………

it’s a nice BIG mug:
my belated birthday present from janson!

and a pack of cadbury chocolate…

thanks! janson

haha..think i’ve gotten over my poor results already. =)
applied for cjc as my first choice and jjc as my second. just out of pure pleasure and lameness, i included ITE’s nursing course as my last choice…haha.

if i “sway sway” enter the nursing course, i’m so going to commit suicide…LOL!

btw, did i mention i got a bass guitar recently..? i’m still learning how to play the basics..in other words, i’m a n00b. o_O

school sucks today..! simply f.cking boring. (once again, i’m using such disgusting language as i have to get my point across..lol). just landed myself into detention for ponning the spring cleaning last week. siann…have to stay back tomorrow after school to do spring cleaning for 1 hour! but then, it’s not so bad cos nicholas, janson and a couple others also have to stay back, so i’ll have company…haha..

anyways, here are 2 pics i took at JJ.

medal display

fence around jj

enough crapping for now i guess…=)

PS: i know my blog design sucks..haha. but this is just the raw version. will spend some time redesigning it if i have the time…(which i seriously doubt if i will ever have). hey! but seriously, if u don’t like it for now, then it’s too bad — cos i don’t really care, for now at least.

Edited: Tuesday, 29 January 20089:02 pm

detention was lame.

i had detention after school today. we (janson, nicholas, i and a couple of my classmates who ponned spring cleaning) had to pick up leaves from the school garden and the clerk at the general office told us that we must collect at least 3.5kg of leaves before we can be dismissed. detention at jj is pretty lame right..?

anyways, we did as we were told, except the part where we conveniently decided to put a couple of rocks and snail shells into the plastic bags to make it heavier. we borrowed a broom and dustpan from a passing custodian to make life easier. i was in charge of doing the sweeping…lol.

we filled up both plastic bags in an instant (well, almost..) and headed back to the office to report to the clerk. and guess what…? the clerk was serious about the 3.5kg weight! she actually brought out a weighing scale wth…i thought she was just kidding! anyways, we passed the “test” (fortunately, she didn’t find out abt the rocks and snails..lol).

all in all, detention was still quite lame. i mean — what for pick up leaves..? should just let it decompose naturally and become organic fertiliser for the grass and trees right..?

lol.
