alright, hello people!

here’s my first post of 2009. (:

personally, i don’t find a difference between 2008 and this current year.

in fact, it feels kinda awkward that 2009 has arrived so quickly, or rather, 2008 has ended abruptly and prematurely. having said that, now seems to be the best time to reflect upon the previous (and i’d like to call) not-so-fruitful year that i had.

2008 was a year where there had been times of joy, laughter and pure fun, as well as moments of fear, surprises, disappointments, sadness and anger. in short, it has been a rough roller-coaster ride, but at the same time, a pretty darn good one, i must say. 2008 was the year which opened new doors, windows, shades (and whatever else that could be opened) to me. haha. (sounds lame, but it’s true..i’ve seen and felt so much more in 2008 than any other year). and for this, i’d like to dub 2008 the weird year of new experiences in the life of weird derek.

but…hey! why am i talking so much about 2008 when it is already over? it’s time to move on to the dreaded and unwelcomed 2009! as far as you and i know, i consider myself to be a doom and gloom pessimist. i don’t always look at the bright side of things. that’s only a good trait as far as disaster planning goes. haha. enough of the crapping and let’s move on!

so….time for my 9 2009 new year resolutions!

#1: to be more optimistic…(omg, i’m already starting to feel pessimistic about being optimistic..haha)

#2: SPEND $$ WISELY and save as much as i can (but not to the point of being stingy and miserly).

#3: study hard. be focused. i have to do this!

#4: be a nicer and better person by having greater control over my feelings and emotions.

#5: have and maintain better relationships (with friends, relatives, family etc)

#6: to spend less time on the computer and more time doing productive stuff.

#7: be a successful party planner and organiser so that outings will go MY way! say no to failed outings!! haha!

#8: to be closer to my class, 08S16. (if this is possible…omg. my pessimism is acting up again..!)

#9: to be blissful and contented with my life! (:

oh..i really have to get rid of my general disposition towards the negative side of things!! haha.

alright, it’s pretty late now and i’ve got to have my precious sleep so that i can wake up to a better day and year later on.. (:

back to school.

okay. i don’t know what to blog about because i’m back to school, which unsurprisingly, = no life. haha.

hmmm. okay, alright. met my new physics tutor today, mr chua see how, who’s comically known as 看先 (by shu shian). anyways, mr chua is a pretty great teacher imo. he’s has a sense of humour and teaches well (at least i understood 99% of what he was saying). oh yeah. we’ve a new civics and gp tutor. she’s ms joy tan. she’s quite a jovial teacher (that’s an understatement). haha. that’s quite a pleasant change. (:

today’s the best school day of the week so far. =D i’m loving wednesdays from now on. haha!

alright. i shall stop here. i’ve more episodes of grey’s anatomy to catch up on. haha. =D

tiring day

today is by far, the loooongest day of school ever. the day started off with PE, which was totally exhausting. we had to perform all sorts of stunts with the medicine ball. it was such that the 5kg medicine ball which felt light initially seemed to have morphed into a 100kg slab of cement by the end of the lesson. sadistic. during break, zp and i hung out with 3 of the halal ladies for a while. it was an interesting mini-gathering, cos i didn’t know what the cheerful ladies were talking about most of the time. haha.

hmm. chem lecture was long and boring. i hate chem. civics was mostly class decorations, which was amusing albeit mildly retarded (not surprising given the class’ creativity). our class theme is “jungle”, which is literal in every sense of the word. we collected dead leaves, stems, branches, and bamboo and dumped everything into the class. convenient. i’ve decided to abolish #8 of my new year resolutions today. there’s no way it can be accomplished. (oops. i think i’ve also broken my #1 resolution…). haha.

chem prac was the last lesson. 2 whole hours of chem! omg. haha.

after prac, we had a freaking 2-hour break before the dreaded math block test, (which by the way, sucked too).

it has been a sucky day. haha.

Today’s supposed to be my favourite day of the week. It’s the physics+gp day, which is much less stressful than regular. But somehow, it seemed so tiring. By midday, I was almost crashing. 12:30 was the final lecture of the day, hadn’t there be a 1.5hr physics makeup tutorial right after. We had to chiong our lunch in record time before enduring more physics. Argh!

And to top the day off, we weren’t accepted into interact club. I have nothing else to say abt this. Totally speechless.

So…with our minds completely blank, we wandered around the school and also, helped a little with the class decorations while waiting for chin ting and kelly. After which, sher, chinting and I went to plaza sing to watch a movie to help shermaine kill time. We watched The Women, which was the MOST MOST boring, sleep-inducing movie I’ve ever seen.

Then, I went back home, when zp reminded me to get the remaining 4 GP files from popular (I’m the gp rep…!@?$&(@?)

Okay…I dragged my sleepy form all the way down to tiong bahru popular and guess what? The files are out of stock. &@($?!!

Frustrating.

it has been a really really great day. and not for the lack of a better expression, words truly cannot describe how i’m feeling. from ching kit dragging me up to the stage, to getting caked by aisyah and co. i was totally taken aback and surprised that i never saw this coming. i’m so moved by you guys! a big thank you to all inthumkoreans and also the chemistry lab people for celebrating my 18th birthday in such an elevated fashion!

now let’s do this thanksgiving once again, korean style!

thanks for organising or coordinating the birthday celebrations. i don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but i do know that there’s a lot of effort put in to make sure the surprise birthday celebration remains a surprise for me. yes – that includes you sending me the wrong sms and calling (or rather – threatening) me for 30mins just to make sure i don’t read the message and be a spoiler. haha. a big thank you to u for making my 18th initiation a really special one. (:

i don’t know how many thanks i’ll have to say to show how much i really appreciate the things that you’ve done for me. The presents are great! anyways, here’s the sequel to zhaopeng’s impromptu sentence constructed from avril lavigne song titles. (although mine isn’t really that impromptu):

i know it’s too much to ask, so don’t tell me anything about my complicated life or i’ll freak out. you don’t understand how does it feel to be in my shoes. i’ll keep holding on but somehow and sometimes, i feel that i’m losing grip on myself and may fall to pieces anytime. i feel forgotten, so who knows what will become of me? i just want to runaway. my world sucks, but i know i can do better, so you don’t have to tell me about my happy ending. i’ll be anything but ordinary.

oh well. that was the lamest thing i’ve ever said. but it’s quite logical and true…(well, in a sense…haha..seriously okay!).
